Well since you're doing it for him, from you & you're doing it to explain how you feel, then I think that you should pick R&B songs from a woman's point of view.
*Heather Headley "He Is" is a great start.
*Aaliyah "One In a Million" a great slow jam!
*Mary J Blige "I Found My Everything" gotta' love Mary J!
*Beyonce "Speechless" such a sensual song. A great possibility.
*Jill Scott "He Loves Me" another song that may express how you feel.
*The best new slow jam (in my opinion) is Ciara "Promise"
*There's also the 90s R&B jams like Shanice "Saving Forever For You", SWV "Weak", and Vanessa Williams "Saving the Best for Last".
*Now I don't know how far back you want to go but if you want to go even further back then *Aretha Franklin "I Never Loved a Man (The Way That I Love You)", Atlantic Starr "Always" is great song (a duet), Natalie Cole "Inseparable", or Jennifer Holliday "And I'm Telling You"
I hope my suggestions at least give you a good start. I had to dig deep for those :o) I think I'm going to make my own R&B mix CD now :o) He's going to love your gift. Good luck!

unhappy or ROCK? ok.. i'm uncertain on that. If via unhappy you recommend.... slow and charm of emo... Evanescence has a good number of those, besides as rock, inclusive of: hi such as you My Immortal Your action picture star lacking All that i'm residing For candy Sacrifice Weight of the international Going decrease than The Veronicas: All I even have heavily broken In yet another existence somebody Wake Me Up My Chemical Romance has a good number of reliable rock songs, and so does Switchfoot.

Anything by Al Green or Floetry, depending on whether you're looking for a male or female artist. But both will definatly get your point across.
