You would need to give us more info on your question to answer it properly. Do you mean commercially available, synthetic, natural, or another particular type. It will be a very hard question to answer.

There are dyes that are not available commercially (banned) or are only made for specialized applications (natural indigo, medical, radioactive,research only). These would be expensive. You could also find dyes that probably contained gold or platinum.

Some common commercial dyes go for $40-50 per pound, if that helps. One historically expensive dye (Tyrian Purple) is made from murex shells and was only used by the upper class in ancient times (see the reference).

direct blue 71 - $65.90/50g
congo red - $74/25g
