I also think that its the sakura tree or cherry blossom tree since it is a common image in Japanese life. This comes from Wikipedia:
"Sakura, a well-known and ubiquitous symbol of Japan, are represented on all manner of consumer goods, including kimono, stationery, and dishware. Cherry blossoms are an enduring metaphor for the ephemeral nature of life, and as such are frequently depicted in art, and are associated with both samurai and kamikaze. There is at least one popular folk song, originally meant for the shakuhachi (bamboo flute), titled "Sakura", as well as a number of pop songs. 'Sakura' is also a common Japanese female name."
There are different varieties of sakura and the ones with pink flowers are the yaekazura and shidarezakura (weeping sakura tree). However, according to the same source, "Japan's most beloved variety is the Somei Yoshino. Its flowers are nearly pure white, tinged with the palest pink, especially near the stem."
I hope I helped...I find that scene with the sakura flowers beautiful too.. I'm not sure but I think it was when she and the Chairman were walking at the garden during the Baron's party or was it the last scene when they kissed?
Just a trivia, Tokyo gave 3000 cherry trees to Washington DC in 1912 and the Americans are commemorating that special event with the National Cherry Blossom Festival come 2007. This is planned to take place on March 31-April 15. So if you want to see real cherry blossoms, try visiting the US capital if you can't go to Japan. :)

I remember learning in Japanese class years ago but I'm not a hundred percent sure... "cherry bloom" rings a bell. It's definitely a Japanese plant though
