If you can find pictures (good luck) you need to check out Kevin Weekes (N.Y. Rangers) and some of his mask designs. Not a great goaler but the man has had some incredible paint jobs everywhere he has played. He also uses different themes to "keep em fresh" and favors some of the fade in style (very clever details faded on to the mask). My personal favorite of his was a Panthers mask that was chromed out with a palm tree and Florida themed motif.Gotta look closely to see the finest details but the masks are truly amazing.
And a personal favorite of mine is the old time Gary Cheevers mask, nothing says hockey like a face full of stitches!!!

Steve Shields when he was with Boston. The front was basically a Mike Meyer's (horror movie character...not Austin Powers' actor) face mask with all the stitches a la Gerry Cheevers, sides were painted ears and hair, while the back was just hair and a bit of the neck. It's so original, yet so simple. It was a work of art.

Mike Richter's Statue of Liberty helmet. Its the greatest helmet ever. They got the idea for the logo of the third jersey from his goalie mask. No other goalie mask has inspired a team's jersey before.

I am pushing this question a bit by using a guy who was property of the NY Rangers, but was down on the farm....

I have seen a number of fantastic masks over the years, but one of my personal favorites belonged to Mark LaForest with Binghamton Rangers (AHL) during I think 91-92 --- a Grateful Dead "skull and lightning" with the skull's teeth lining the bottom edge of the mask and a silhouette of Jerry's playing hand on one ear and another GD image on the other. Nice.

I can tell you who has the worst without a doubt: John Grahame; with NASCAR checkerboards, a racecar, and two little half-naked girls on the side. I hate his mask.

Cam Ward's new mask is pretty sweet if any of you have seen it. With Hurricanes across the face, WARDO on the bottom, and Nickelback on the back, because he's become good friends with the Canadian-based band.

I think Ed Belfour's mask when he played for the Blackhawks was the best looking one I've ever seen. Especially the wishbone at the bottom that signifies his involvement with the Make A Wish Foundation.

Stephane Fiset back then when they were the Qubec Nordiques, his mask was pretty cool with the blocks of ice. Patrick Roy with the Avalanche. A work of art..

Giles Gratton {New York Rangers(NHL); Toronto Toros(WHA); Birmingham Bulls(WHA)}. The most awesome mask ever! It was a Lion's head ... the whole thing. I've heard it was because he was or is a Leo, but whatever, it was amazing.
