it is for a psychology class there is something wrong with him i asked my teacher and she said there it but she cant tell me what cause that is what my paper is supposed to be about.

McMurphy is faking insanity in order to avoid hard prison time. That's the irony of the story - he would probably have had a better chance in prison than in the mental institution.

The whole point of the story is about the incompetence and abusiveness in the mental health industry. As a vehicle to demonstrate this, they put a non-insane person in an asylum and show how the institution tries to mold him into a crazy person. When they fail, they administer electric shock therapy until they fry his brain and now he fits their mold.

Well the whole premise about him faking insanity to get out of trouble and his constant brushes with authority could make you think perhaps he is a narsasist(not sure the spelling).
