yes, not to sure if they would bother though for something like petty theft. They most likely save the fingerprint equipment for bigger stuff.
Also, if you haven't ever been fingerprinted before, it won't matter because they won't have you on file. Unless you're a suspect, in which case they could get a warrent to take your fingerprint. So just to be safe, I'd suggest cutting your fingers and thumbs off. Just in case ;)

Yes they can, if it was handled. Plastic wrap is wonderful for finger prints. The evidence techs place the dvd in the wrapper inside an airtight container, along with something simular to super glue. The cyanoacrilate adheres to the print on the item, which then is coated with a chemical which reacts to the glue, showing the print.

Yes, they can detect your fingerprints via special dust if you touched the DVDs plastic wrapping.

yes they get it from the out side of the case if you touched it your prints are on the out side of the case if they said they got it from the inside of the case and the case is still factory wrapped its not yours its an employee of the manufactures if they said its yours they are lying to get you to confess to taking it
