Hitler of Germany wanted to dominate Russia. Europe and Asia and North Africa. He started off by invading Poland in a surprise attack and quickly overwhelmed this country. Our then prime minister had already told Hitler that should he make an act of war then he would be at war with Great Britain. Hitler agreed but then reneged on the agreement. The Prime Minister. Neville Chamberlain then declared that Britain was at war with Germany.

World War Two was really an extension of World War One. The Germans were under severe sanctions and conditions imposed by the Versailles Treaty. Germany was coming out of a depression under their new leader, Adolph Hitler, and German national pride and something I call, nativism, were responsible for the beginning of hostilities. When one race can identify with all of its people who are basically the same, hence the Arian race, and the German language, and they are different from other races and other languages, you have the basis for racism, and hence, warfare. This is similar to what is happening today in the Middle East. George Bush is still trying to demonize the Arab race, the Radical Islamic Terrorists, as an excuse to grab their oil. Hence, they are different from us (Americans) because they have a different language, and also, religion. It is very easy to separate them from us. Hence, warfare.
Hope this helps but there is a lot of reading to do in your part a this is a complicated issue.

Officially? WWII began as an Allied response to Hitler's aggressions against Poland. Unofficially, WWII has roots in the Treaty of Versailles. Germany was punished heavily by the treaty, and it's economy suffered. Unrest and general lack of faith in German government led to increased nationalist thoughts, the rise of the Nazi party, and Hitler's eventual assumption of Germany's helm. Good luck on your homework.
