Because he was making fun of the audience, and journalists are too self-important to tolerate being made fun of.
The people watching at home laughed, at least.

Bomb??? It was one of the greatest moments in our history since 2000. I mean, c'mon, scheduling Colbert for the roast of the President? How unbelievable was that? And Colbert sucked the marrow out of the moment, summarizing the president's 6 years of ineptitude to a tea.
That was a great, great moment. I can't believe Colbert is not murdered yet. Although I did nightmare the other day an embarrassed baseball catcher kidnapped him and killed both of them in a suicide. But who hasn't had that one?

Mostly because he pissed off the big man. You don't go pissing off the President at the WHITE HOUSE Correspondence dinner.

...because his speech/satire was genius/balls to the wall bedlum for anyone who sees how absurd this administration is....and, he was in a room full of blowhard retard, phony mahony neo-cons. Ahem. I like his balls. I really do.
I guess they just didn't know when to stand up & clap (and sit down again, and again, and again, ibidly. And clap again nonsensically). With sh&t eating grins.

Because the audience was brain dead. They're too stupid to get the humor. What a bunch of ash wholes.

Yea it was the Bomb wasnt it.
Did you see the look on Bush's face when he called him on his "most powerfully staged photo ops" LOL.
The crowd all had a finger to their lips trying not to explode laughing. A few of them were sweatiing with embarassment for Bush.

Because it was the same old tired and stale Liberal bashing job we've seen or read about a million times. To call that humor would be to call a whiney brat intertainment.

too many stiffs in the audience. they wouldn't know humor if it hit them in the head. I thought it was great. A little over done at times, but funny.

It's tough to get people to laugh when you're telling them they're not doing their jobs. Even if you tell them this in a funny way.
