if there is a block (copy right protection is what you meant I beleive) you can make a exact copy of the DVD using windvd or nero express.

The burner is that you can make your own DVDs if you have the software and hardware for it (Video editing, camera, etc). Besides, DVDs hold more than a CD so you can store more data to them. Being a burner, it plays DVDs, which means that you can watch DVDs on your computer. If all you want to do is replicate, then get a dedicated replicator.

The way to get past them is "dvd decrypters" and then you need a "ripper" to copy the Movie. As they said, Nero 6 or Nero 7 is the best, but there are other programs. Just look around and try a few on trial basis before deciding.

Blocks can worked around ;)

Pretty much all DVD locking technic's have been brocken, and new ones get broken quick.

Also aside from copying DVD's -- you can make you own DVD's and burn them to play in your DVD player (home video's?) -- also you can burn data to a DVD (or DVD-RW) just like to a CD (to back it up, or make it portable) -- except DVD's hold over 5 times as much data!

DVD burners were invented to backup large amounts of data, not to copy DVD movies. Also, people could use to produce their own DVD movies.

While I don't condone it, if you search for "anydvd" and "dvd shrink", you will find what you want.

Because the DVD has a crypted code for security reason and copyrights.

find and download AnyDVD, then find and install mcldecrypt.exe, it unlocks your dvd burner, however, you will not be able to burn copies of Sony dvd's unless you have a Sony dvd burner.

I don't advocate the use of software for illegal purposes. with that said, also search the web for dvd decrypter; along with the already mentioned dvdshrink & anydvd.
