I bought a new Sony Vaio vgn-c140g two days ago. It has two small problems I have noticed. First, there are dark little spots in both of the lower corners of the screen. Second, when I run it on the battery it has a high-pitched noise that isn't noticeable unless you are in a quiet room. But when you are tuned into it, it can drive you nuts. So after spending $1200 on getting a snazzy laptop, should I exchange this for another one and hope it doesn't have the problems, return it for a cheaper one and save myself some money, or just live with it?

Since it is new, I would exchange it for another viao. Sony makes good equiptment, and it sounds like you got a slightly defective one. The high pitched whine could be the capacitors in the power supply, or the fan. The black spots sound like dead pixels, not a good thing on a new laptop.

TAKE IT BACK IMMEDIATELY, YOU SHOULD BE OK WITH THE SAME MODEL/MAKE AS SONY'S LAPTOPS ARE DECENT.

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU JUST GOT A BAD ONE, OR IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN DROPPED DURING SHIPPING.

RECENTLY THERE HAS BEEN A MAJOR RECALL IN THE INDUSTRY FOR LAPTOP BATTERIES (MAINLY DELL) THAT SHORT OUT, AND CAUSE FIRES -- IF YOUR MODEL IS IN THIS LAWSUIT, MAKE SURE YOU GET THE NEW BATTERIES THAT ARE SAFE.

i think there is something wrong with it, and you should exchange it with another of the same brand. If your second on e does the same thing, i would sell it and use the money you earned to but a new one.

You shouldn't keep that, your LCD has dead pixels, and I think that your battery has some problems too,it may explode so be careful and return or exchange it soon, and unplug the battery.

Don't just live with it. Something is clearly wrong with it and it should be covered under the warranty. Allow the company to exchange it for you.

I like my HP laptop.... but for me it's the pretty blue lights. :o)
