I have recently started building my own car from bottom up. I need to know the requirements to make it street legal. It is probably by state, but any educated advice would be helpful. Thanks...

Maybe you could ask your local garage owner to show you the checklist he has to do for State inspection stickers?

the basic's... turn signals, headlights, reverse lights, brake lights, and your drivers side-view mirror, and either a rear-view or a passenger side-view mirror... your tires need to be covered by some sort of fender, and you need to have some sort of device to display your license plates properly both on the front and back of the vehicle, and your need to make your exhaust system up to par so that it can pass emmisions tests.... well good luck.
