Kinda - he did not really get the message through to the rude heckler though, because he used the word so many times.
By the way Michael Richards is a very talented actor.

Yes. Not only because of the language, which was reprehensible in and of itself. It was overboard because of the rage and hostility in his actions.
Off-color language is a longstanding tradition in comedy, and a skilled comic could've dispatched the heckler in a humorous way.
Richards is not a stand-up comic. He is a comedic actor, which is an entirely different skill. Hecklers are at every comedy act, and he should not have taken it personally. But he did, and he responded with open hostility and zero respect for another individual. That was the factor that made it a problem.

Probably but I also think the people heckling him did too. Why is it ok for them to use racial slurs to him but he can't do it back? I don't think it's ok to do this but I just dont' see why this is blown out of proportion. Dumb stuff happens like this every day. It's just because he is an actor and people and the media love exploiting anything that has to do with race. I think he should have apologized once. He doesn't need to go on every talk show and apologize. Enough is enough.
