HI.... Wow, 5th hip surgery? Tough, I've had one and that was rough. Hon, what would your reason be to shave. It's not necessary to worry about that. In this day and age, doctors are beginning to believe that shaving is not good for persons who have surgery. While listening to the news one evening, it was said ( and I do believe) that we have that for a reason and the one reason stated was to prevent germs in the areas where surgery will be performed. If it is bothering you, try calling on a nurse or your doctor. This isn't the time to be worrying over such small stuff. Good Luck!

The surgeons nurse will shave any area that needs to be done. I would recommend you not shaving anything unnecessary for now. You don't want to have a rash that irritates you on top of recuperating from hip surgery. Good Luck

They will shave it for you if it needs to be shaved. But you might want to shave it every once in a while to keep it under control. You don't need to do that though, if you're happy with the way it looks. But for the surgery itself, the nurses will shave you. Don't worry, they do it all the time.

You should not worry about that. In hospitals, they have nurses shave you if it is nessary for the surgery. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. You can ask your mom to find out if it makes you feel better.
I hope your surgery is a success and and you can be surgery free now. God bless.

Your surgeon is the one who will have a preference about this. You need to call his office and ask his nurse (don't worry, they keep this confidential and they won't try to make you feel weird for asking).
If you can't call the surgeon yourself, then you do need to ask your mom to do it for you. I know you feel strange talking to her about this stuff, but if you explain your feelings to her and tell her you just want to know if this is medically necessary, then I think she'll be understanding.
