Check for the optimum texture and pH for the grass.

For the amoeba,i guess it is contractile vacuole.

1. Read the directions so that you don't use excessive fertilizer.
If too much fertilizer is used, you will be subjecting the grass roots to a hypertonic situation /outward osmosis. This will cause more water to exit the roots than to enter them, causing the grasses to wilt (loss of turgor pressure) ,partially dehydrate, and die.

2. contractile vacuole and/or the cell membrane.

You need ORTHO grass fertilizer sold at Fred Meyer- Walmart-etc. And that poor Amoeba we all have pressures in life & he has to deal with osmotic pressure- he is strong in life & will deal with the pressures & win!
