Sorry maybe it's time to spend a little less time together. Maybe she needs to cool off a little, you shouldn't have to censor what you say or prepare for her verbal attacks. If you've tried talking to her and it just isn't getting through maybe a little "alone time" will do the trick.

Hide a tape recorder and let her hear what she sounds like to other people. Also don't let her run over you. You should not have to watch you words with true friends. Friends accept you as you are and don't take advantage of each other or badger each other or put you down or judge you. Let her know how you feel about her rudeness and if she doesn't start being a friend , that you won't be hers.

She feels comfortable with your company... to rant says that she sees you as a very important sounding board. The best way to force her will is to ask her on the next few times together she is responsible for the new people you are going to meet. You need to throw simple statements like really "her name" I am sorry you feel that way. I have never been 86 from a party I have never been to....your the rebel not me....

You can't get her to mellow out. The best you can do is find a new friend with a certain degree of empathy. You don't need to be subject to her bad attitude.

Get her to do some role play with you to practice situations that may come up, so she can have a better idea of good responses. Good luck.

Your friend sounds like she has problems and won't deal with them. You can put up with her if you want but life is short and who wants to wait and wait and wait for someone to grow up.
