this question stumps me if the a/b inside the absolute value box is negative it comes out posotive

Consider if a= 1, b =-1, then abs(a/b) = 1 and a/b = -1

-1 != 1
abs(a/b) != a/b

(!= means NOT EQUAL TO)

It won't be equal with its absolute value if it is negative.... because all absolute value are positive...

A/B maybe negative

if a/b<0 they are not equal.
abs(a/b) is always >=0

lets say either a or b is negative
then ABS(a/b) is + and a/b is -
