improve your attitude towards the course, accept that it is essential to moving on to your life's goal and give it you fullest attention.
specific things you can do, move to a seat at the front of the classroom so you aren't distracted by your classmates; when you go into the classroom, decide that nothing else matters for that hour except the class then watch your marks climb
It is useful to have a goal in mind to reach for, if you want to be an A student, that is your goal. Make a sign/poster of your goal and stick it in your locker and in your room at home so you have to look at it several times a day, it will keep you focused

Sit closer to the front, pay closer attention and take notes. Get plenty of sleep at night, read as much as you can.

Listen to what the teacher is saying, so stop passing notes and talking all through class!

Get one of those little handheld tape recorders if you can't follow along with the teacher during class.

Eat your vegetables and fruits. Take your vitamins!
