Why doesn't HDTV support closed caption?

Clarification: TV channels broadcast in HD, not regular low-def channels

i have an lcd hdtv that has closed captioning - it is a Samsung
46 inch and on the remote control it has a closed captioning
button.....don't use the remote that comes with your cable box.
use the remote that comes with the TV....that is the one that has the cc on it. good luck, i hope this is helpful to you.....
