My son has been with me since the day he was born, so i guess it may be my fault. But he does not seem to like anybody but me. I have to hold him all the time, if i put him in his walker while i try to cook or clean he throws the biggest fits, and will not stop crying until i am done. We play all day, he's a good and happy baby, but i think this attachment isn't normal. Am I right? please help.

On the contrary, it's very normal. All babies go through phases where they have to be around you all the time or they get upset.

Try playing peek-a-boo with him. This will help him get the concept that when you're "gone" you always come back. Also, try putting him in his walker and then sitting next to it for a few minutes and playing with him. This way he can learn that just because he's not in your arms doesn't mean you're not around.

It really is ok but for your sake I'd advise you to try to get him used to the idea of not being with you all the time. Try this, sit him down and talk to him, keep talking to him so he can here you but walk into the other room or somewhere he can't see you, just make sure he hears you the whole time. It's a little thing, but it's a start. Once he's used to that have someone stay with him while you go in the other room for several minutes. You need to work him up to being away from you for long periods of time, don't try to do it all at once. This really helped me with my first son, so I hope it helps you as well.

It is very normal and expected that your baby be very attached to you. I would be more concerned if he wasn't. Think about it..you baby has been with you since conception..he has grown inside your womb..the sound of your heart beat..your smell..your voice..your breathing..everything about you..is what your baby knows. Your baby also sees you as an extension of himself..(also normal..)..so he has actual fears if you are far away. And your son should be with you~!..it is not a fault..but a nuture you are with him. Please do not go into the ntion a baby is spolied for being held and cared for. I strongly suggest you go to the library and get some child care/devolpemnt books to read. You will be surprised of what you will learn. Children do go very typical normal seperation anxiety also. it is all normal.

I don't think it's abnormal. It is something you started and have allowed to continue. Since this is your first child,I assume...there is nothing wrong with letting him cry. It's good for helping develop strong lungs. You just can't give in each time. Plus what if you do decide to work...there will be seperation anxiety if and when he has to go to childcare. What about preschool...that will be a nightmare. You have got to break this NOW. He won't remember any of it anyways so he will not resent you, okay. Please talk to his doctor about ways and things you can do to help him in the transition. You are setting yourself up and him for hard times ahead when he needs to develop social behaviors and begin relating with other children in playgroups.Just ask his doctor.

do you go to play group? maybe other children may help him explore and not be so clingy. Its normal for a child to want his mum all the time you just have to get tuff and say no put him in a play pen away from you when you do things go in and out all the time so he knows your there but only make contact if his quiet or playing tell him that he is good when his not crying
hope that helps

Actually, it's very normal. go to www.babycenter.com for more info.

You may have to enforce a little change on him..have someone else hold him, walk away, and in a minute or two come back. Once he realizes you are coming back, he'll be OK. Or put him in a baby Einstein, etc, and walk away, and come back in a few minutes. Babies have a short attention span, get him interested in something else and go do your thing. He'll learn to self soothe.

i am in the same boat as you. my daughter started that around 7 months old and she is a year now and still does it. we cant even leave her at her grandparrents house because of it. at first it worried me but now i realize that i am so lucky for my baby loving me so much that she dont want to be apart from me. although it is hard to wash the dishes and hold a baby at the same time--but its her way or the cry way. lol

it can be if you dont stop it quick he will become the biggest cling on you could imagine and when he gets older it will make it a lot harder for him to move on and make steps through his life on his own such as school and other things. It may seem harsh but sometimes in order to be a good parent you have ot let him cry!!!!! good luck:)

Every child is different. YOUR baby is very attached, loves you and wants to be with you. YOUR baby isn't ready to be independent yet. Babies must learn to feel safe being dependent before they will feel safe to explore being independent.

If it doesn't bother YOU, then don't worry about it.

If you're craving a break, then take a break and he will learn eventually that even if Mommy leaves for awhile, she always comes back.

Good Luck!
