Yes, it's just a 'cutesy' variation on 'wife'!

A bit like turning the name 'Betty' into 'Bettywetty' or 'Bettikins'..!!

Used in private, it's probably just mildly annoying to the woman, but some men use the word 'wifey' as an insult to their own - or someone else's - wife, "Oi, mate! How's your wifey today, eh? Still giving your ears a bashing?? Eh??!"

Remember, a 'wifey' is implied to be mentally inferior to a 'wife', so be careful how you use the word!

maybe the difference between actual wife and fiance or wife to be. Who knows. Maybe it's one in the same.

"wifie" is just a little cuter, more informal than "wife"

you wouldn't address your wife as "wifie" at an important meeting. it is more a "cuddly" expression between partners...

I know "wife" is something very dangerous.. wifie may be slightly less!

I think it is suppsed to be a cute way of saying wife. I think some women find it offensive.

my husband calls me wifie when he's trying to be cute, much as i might call him hubbie, makes sence but i'd rather he just called me babydoll like usuall
