Work is Force x Distance.

It is the same units as energy ... there is no one unit. You can say watts, or joules or ergs, or calories ... it all resolves the same.

You cannot as someone mentioned use horsepower, that is a measure of power, which is Work * Time

You also have to be careful about using newton-meters as that is also a measurement of torque and ambiguous.

work is force x distance. unit of force is newton and unit of distance is miter, so the unit of work is newton.miter.
