The 2007 Chicago Cubs are going to win the National League Central Divison, the National League Championship, and the 2007 World Series.

If there's no Wrigley Field...the Cubs are completely worthless the past 50 plus years. And that's a fact.
In fact, you can't really attribute Wrigley Field to the Cubs. It's more of a Chicago landmark/tourist attraction than having anything to do with winning baseball games.
But Haray Caray was a great ambassador on WGN for the Cubs too, I suppose.
But if you're looking for true baseball tradition rich franchises...try the Dodgers, Yankees, Cardinals, Reds, Athletics, Red Sox, Tigers, etc.

G'day timjim,

Thank you for your question.

The Chicago Cubs are one of the best supported teams in major league baseball. It has been a while since they won the World Series - 98 years to be precise - but the Red Sox victory in 2004 shows that this can change.

Cubs fans will be hoping 2007 is their year as none of their fans under 100 has ever seen them win the World Series.

Regards

Don't give up the ship, Cubby fans. There have been reports over the past week that the Tribune Corp. is considering selling the team. One of the parties who has expressed interest in buying the team is ta-ta-daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! The envelope please....MARK CUBAN. Better days may becoming to the Friendly Confines.

The point is they have become a pretty good baseball team right under your nose. They picked up Soriano who will hit 40+ Hrs and steal 40 bases along with 100 RBI's. Not too shabby. You have an offer to Jason Schmidt a pretty good pitcher and that says you're going to spend the money to make your team better. Get in back of your team man!

yes the cubs have been doing bad, but they also just sealed a big time deal. 8 yr/$136 million deal with Alfonso Soriano, so that could/might/should help them out a little this year, but they still need work.

At one time I would watch WGN to catch the Cubs games...When I needed a good laugh...The Cubs aren't even funny anymore, they're just sad...

I certainly hope you didn't bet the farm on that "con" man...LOL

The point is simple.
They have greatly improved their offense
and if they sign Jason Schimdt, look out.

The point is that they are the better baseball team in Chicago.
The point is they have a better fan base.
The point is that their fans are more knowledgeable.
The point is that the fans are more loyal and dedicated.
The point is that their southside crybaby neighbors (the whinny sux) can only mutter one sentence, (cubs suck) and that's all the english they know.

They draw money at the beergarden (Wrigley) and as long as fans keep coming to watch their "lovable losers" they will never win a thing. They'll just sign a few players here and there to make it look like they are trying something to keep the fans interested but not fill in the positions that need to be filled.
