One dog is like putting a person in solitary confinement.
Dogs are pack animals and need to be around their own
kind. She should not be so cruel at another living beings
expense. She should put the good of others over herself.

First things first. ALL poisons and toxic substances should be immediately removed and stored out of your dog's reach so IT won't die too.
POISONS:
1. Antifreeze
2. Aspirin
3. ANY other pills
4. Chlorine
5. Lead
6. Turpentine
7. Vermin Poisons
8. Cleaning Supplies
9. Certain plants, such as Mistletoe, Holly, and Easter Lilies
If you need help with poison info, call the Animal Poison Control Center at 1-888-426-4435.
Your mother is RIGHT not let you have another pet. Everyone in your household, including YOU, is responsible for the safety of any animal that comes in your home. If precautions had been taken to remove poisons and toxins from the reach of your pets, your other dog WOULD NOT HAVE DIED. Even when your dog is outside, someone needs to be nearby to ensure it doesn't get into the neighbor's poisons and toxins. There is NO EXCUSE for what happened to your other dog. Until you can prove yourself responsible, your mother is not going to put another animal at risk. If you don't want your dog to be lonely, spend time with it. DUH!

My mom swore we would never have a dog. Yet, I am right now looking at my year old beagle. The way I convinced my parents to get a dog was a did a ton of research on a specific breed i wanted and i let them know that i was researching and learning alot about tha breed. Also show responsibility. Take out the trash, keep your room clean, etc. just let them now that you are responsible enough and would be willing to feed both the dogs, take the dog for walks, everything. And also its true that if you have 2 dogs (that get a long) they can keep each other company all day and they teach each other (amazigly) waht is a good thing to do and what is a bad thing to do. Ex. A dog playfully chews on a family members hands. The family doesnt mind but sometimes she bites toooo hard. If they had a second dog the dogs would keep each other in check. Just do your research and be responsible. Good grades dont hurt either. :)

I am taking your dog's chewing up stuff to say he/she is bored maybe rather than lonely? Maybe he/she is looking for something to do?
Do you have a 4-H chapter in your school? In my area 4-H offers dog training as an 4-H activity. Professional dog trainers work with you and your dog and teach you how to train your dog in all kinds of activities. And the best part is that it is FREE!! You could make some new friends and really get a great relationship with the dog you have now. Then when you show that you can make your dog a well behaved member of your family, your mom may be willing to add one more. Good Luck!

make sure you are doning everything for the dog. leave it so she doesn't have to do anything, take it out, feed it, clean up after it. Also maybe start paying for the food or treats. Whatever you do, don't just bring one home hoping she will changer her mind when one just showes up. This will make your case harder,
