somnambulation would probably be better if the context was "Lady Macbeth, who walks through the castle washing her hands in her sleep, is perhaps the most famous case of somnambulation" but as it stands now...neither really make any sense.

somnambulation or somnambulates means sleepwalking, you already mentioned "who walks through the castle washing her hands in her sleep" so I don't think including somnambulation is necessary
