ah, but genocide has been very common with capitalists too. Remember the native Americans? Genocide it not the issue. it is prosperity and quality of life for all that is the issue.
I think I would prefer a socialist society like Sweden where the government takes responsibility for the really bad and expensive things in life and then taxes the entire society to make sure everybody gets enough to survive decently.
There is still enough capitalism left over to give incentive for those who want more than they need.

Look, l would love that a socialist or communist system would work well enough that all could drive a Mercedes like mine, have a great home theater at their big suburban house and tons of food and designer clothes and fashion jewelry, but it will not happen anytime soon.
Communism is based on the extremely naive idea that humans will somehow stop caring about power and greed. What usually happens is that the leaders in charge or running the community cannot avoid falling to the temptation of power as everybody else.
Welfare state socialism like Sweden is based on the equally naive notion that economic agents like to give 60% of their income to a state that somehow knows better than markets how to invest the money for the welfare. That is recipe for economic stagnation.
The only thing that works is the free market economy. Yes, it has its ugly side, but at least it gives people the freedom to chose and make decisions. A tyrant calling the shots in the name of "the people" or a state that thinks that knows how to invest the cash are not feasible options.

That one is too easy... Capitalist. The quality of life is so much better and there are no limits to what one can achieve. Socialism and communism can't do well simply because, if you look into history, not one communistic or socialistic society has ever taxed itsself into prosperity.... it can't be done. If the USA continues its trend toward socialist behavior as many democrats seem to want, we will be doomed to mediocrity, just like so many other countries.

I have lived in a communist state and currently live in a capitalist state. Honestly, I preferred the communist state because of free college education, health care, dental care etc. No one was sick, or starving which is not the case in the US. The only thing I prefer about capitalism is the stability that it offers. I left the communist state due to genocide and political instability. But honestly, the quality of life was much better and less money driven in the communist state.

Capitalism.
If you are undecided, here is what you should do. For one week each, give up all the products and innovations of US capitalism (starting with computer technology and the internet - Yahoo! Answers) and then give up all the products and innovations of socialism.
You will quickly discover which you prefer.
-----
Gulags
Genocide
Famines
Holocaust
World Wars
Nuclear Weapons
Slavery
Caste Systems
Concentration Camps
Those are just a few of the wonderful things ENDORSED and IMPLEMENTED by big centralized government in the history of the world. And it keeps happening over and over. Less government = more liberty. Liberty is a good thing.

Since every single communist/socialist society has engaged in genocide and other heinous crimes against humanity without a single exception whatsoever.....that would be capitalist.

FYI, Hawndawg, Sweden has become such a welfare state that they are no longer a player in the world economy, and they can barely support their country anymore because there are far more people living off the government than there are working people. In Sweden, it is nearly impossible to fire a worker, even if the worker never shows up! Most people in Sweden who choose to work have to work two jobs to support themselves because their taxes are over 50% of their pay. I would rather be free to make my own choices, free to suffer or enjoy the consequences of them, and free to help people in need, not forced to. Our welfare system is a disaster, but it's not as bad as Sweden's. CAPITALISM gets my vote.
