A few thoughts:
#1.) Be prepared. Have you read the script for the musical or play? It always helps to have an idea of what's going on in the action of the script... Do you have to have an audition piece such as a monologue or part of a song to sing? Find one you really love and work, work, WORK on it! Be as prepared as possible and it totally help lead to....
#2.) Be confident. If you're prepared, you know you're ready and your confidence level will soar! I might also suggest to wear something nice. Maybe your favorite skirt or cute shoes? If you FEEL at your best, you will PERFORM at your best! And...
#3.) Have Fun! Directors and other people involved in casting roles love to see people who have FUN on the stage. If you want to be funny, be Hilarious! If it's dramatic, let your emotions flow! Don't hold anything back!!!
BEST OF LUCK!!!

^^^I completely agree with Jacie's answer. ^^^
But to add to it, be sure that your audition piece is natural. Unless the role calls for something like an accent or a quirk, don't try to be someone else. Be yourself! I blew an audition once by using a southern accent to try and sound funny.
When auditioning, don't keep your arms by your side and don't stand all in one place! You're a cheerleader! Move around, use body language.
Don't be nervous, they're not there to judge you as a person. They want you to do well. So just do your best and don't hold back! You're gonna be amazing!
Good luck,
Mel

What do you do to get ready for cheerleading? Try that before you go on stage. A few deep breaths would help too. Most of all, relax and have fun that's when you give the best performance.

Wow. lots of persons replied this... right here is my suggestion. don't be frightened approximately it. it incredibly is the nighttime in the past, and its in comparison to you could prep any further. go get some sleep, and relax approximately it. on the audition, communicate loudly and clearly. do no longer mumble, till you're enjoying... nicely quite. do exactly no longer mumble. Drink a lot of water in the past, and calm your self down. Being frightened will screw you up extra desirable than something. If worst is composed of worst and you neglect your strains, make it up. Make up the ending, and get off the degree. do no longer coach you have screwed up. The director will see that, and understand. stay in character. do no longer goof off whilst people are onstage. it incredibly is rude. injury a Leg!!! :)
