Internet Explorer 7 (Windows Only) - http://www.microsoft.com/ie
Firefox 2.0 (Windows / Mac / Linux) - http://www.getfirefox.com
Flock 0.7.8 (Windows / Mac)- http://www.flock.com
Opera 9 (Windows / Mac / Linux) - http://www.opera.com
Safari 3.0 (Mac Only) - http://www.apple.com/safari
Netscape 8.1.2 (Windows Only) - http://browser.netscape.com/ns8/
My pick is Flock -- the social web browser. It uses the Firefox engine but adds features integrated for blogging, RSS, Flickr and PhotoBucket, and Del.icio.us in your quick search.

I won't answer the question because everyone else has but I will tell you this. Anyone who has experimented with all those major browsers will tell you that Firefox is the best one. It was debuted about two years ago and has gain alot of popularity, even though it was the newcomer, the underdog. It's easier for IE to to win the market because it comes preinstalled with Windows, since both are Microsoft products. If this wasn't the case, I'm sure Firefox would win out because of true popularity, a true love for the browser.

The first two listed sources will provide you with a good start to finding out about the various browsers out there (ref: 1,2).
Internet Explorer (IE), Firefox (FF) and Opera are the major browsers according to the w3c (ref:3).
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/
http://www.mozilla.com/
http://www.opera.com/
IE comes with windows so is the most used but it is also considered the weaker of the three due to features and security. The difference between FF and Opera is smaller but to generalize Opera offers more features 'out of the box' and FF offers more 3rd party extensions to improve your browsing experience. Opera is also the faster browser (ref: 4,5).
If you are looking for a recommendation then the following is my own personal opinion:
Opera is the best browser for most users, unless you like customizing your browser in which case Firefox is the best.
I use Firefox myself but Opera IS the better browser and I am seriously considering changing to it.

The top main 3 are in order of popularity are:
Insecure Exploder
Firefox
Opera
Nutscraper
of course you have Flock and others
And then you have Safari and Konqueror that are mostly made for Linux, Mac/Apple. Of course there are many more out there, but out of all them, you should avoid IE the most because its a spyware and virus magnet.
United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team:
"There are a number of significant vulnerabilities in technologies related to the IE domain/zone...It is possible to reduce exposure to these vulnerabilities by using a different web browser"

IE
Pros: most widely used and most web sites are designed to display correctly in it
Cons: it's from Microsoft and they won't let us see the source code so there's always security flaws being exploited
Firefox
Pros: open-source, tabbed-browsing, user-created extensions that add functionality
Cons: isn't as widely accepted as IE
Opera:
Pros: just went free recently and was one of the first to use tabbed browsing
Cons: somewhat buggy and even less widely used for design testing than Firefox

Mozilla Firefox
Opera
Internet Explorer
As for their strengths and weaknesses, it's simple. Firefox is fast and secure, and Internet Explorer is slow, and makes your computer vulnerable to viruses and spyware.

I would say Firefox is the best, with tabs, no pop-ups (Seriously) cool layout, you can get add ons and extentions and new themes, and its faster.
Internet Exploter- IT STINKS!
