Her husband is cool, but they have kids. But there is a spare room and my friends are from out of town and will only be here for three days. It's like my house also, so do I ask her?

Yes! You do ask her! As their "roommate" it is only considerate to see how they feel about your friends staying there for 3 days. You don't say how old the kids are. Will your friends staying there disrupt their routine? You also don't say if your sister and her husband have ever met these friends before or not. If they have never met them before, please sit down and discuss this with them. It is only right that you show them a little respect in this situation, after all it does sound like it was their house before you moved in with them.

You seem to be a very intelligent and respectable person. You already realize she is married and has children, so you realize that rules and respect are in order if she permits.

I think seeing that you feel like this is your house also and there is a spare room, you should feel comfortable asking your sister and her husband.

I think you should explain to her that you know the rules in the house and that you will make sure that there is no noise, swearing or drinking in the house.

Take your friends out so your sis and hus. have some privacy with thier children.

good luck.

If your sister and her husband were kind enough to allow you to live with them. Then it is good to ask if they mind. Its like a respect thing. If you respect their house you will ask. At least if they mind. Especially since they have little ones in the house.

First it is not like your house, it is theirs. Second are you paying any type of rent or bills? If not, you are just mooching off your sister and inviting your friends to do the same.
So before you invite somebody to spend the night you should get their permission first and yes it is rude, especially since they have children and you are inviting strangers over to their house.

You need to ask your sister and your brother-in-law whether they are okay with it because you need to understand that inviting your friends to stay for three days would also mean additional expenses for them (your sister and brother-in-law). They, of course, would have to include them in your meals, unless you and your friends would eat out.

not rude, but considering they're not just staying one night and it's more than one friend, i'd suggest all of you chipping in and getting a room. you have to think about what you're asking: house full of people that have to eat, bathe, run electricity, etc. just something to think about...

yes it is. unless it's for a project or for an important matter, there is no need to have your friends stay over at your sister's house. especially with having kids around, it can be inconvienient.

I think you should ask and see if they object or not. If your friends are from out of town I would bet they will say it is o'kay. Good luck sweety.
