If you're talking about as a birth control method, absolutely not. There were times when I used the "rhythm method" but I was very regular, and also married at the time. Pregnancy would not have been a tragic mistake considering my circumstances. Also, was not worried about contracting diseases from my husband, so there was no need to use condoms.
If you are young and unmarried and sexually active, you should be using something to not only protect yourself from unwanted pregnancy but from unwanted sexually transmitted diseases!

Obviously not as well as other methods. You should speak with a health care expert (if possible). He/she can tell you what to do to make sure you avoid parenthood when you're not ready. The calendar method is not reliable at it's best, so you definately would profit from a backup plan.

OK. I have to be gross here. But this is tried and true with not only myself, but several friends.
If you want to get pregnant, even if you're irregular ( and I am)...about 10 days or so after your period ends you need to look for signs of ovulation, ie cramping in some, and a discharge in most. Sorry to be gross but it;s true. those 2 days you're the most fertile. Good luck!
