Actually, it depends. If you were served papers in reference to this bill and did not appear in Court as ordered or failed to appear at a deposition as ordered, then yes, you can go to jail (this is considered comtempt of Court). Otherwise, if you just flat refused to pay and the Judge threw you and jail, then that makes no sense to me at all.

Good Luck and Take Care

What was the charge on the order that put you in jail? Without additional detail this sounds like a contempt charge based on your failure to pay a just debt.

The law to be jail for such minor offense is ridicules, different country got different law, different country see imprisonment differently,if i was in your shoe, i may consider of leaving that states, medical is important for human life, it should not be judge by $ to save life. It isn't the medical bill per Se it is the lack of care for you child. To explain, if you were in arrears in your child support , you would go to jail. If in your divorce decree or the order for child support and you are supposed to take care of his medical needs, then you are responsible for taking care of your child.

Depends on the terms of the bill, but usually no. You aren't telling the whole story. I'm certain there are several facts missing here.
