I have this friend he has so many problems. Every time I’m happy and go tell him my good news, he totally brings me down with all of his problems. I try to help him but things don’t seem to be getting any better what should I do?

You can ask him not to be so down and that you don't want to hear anything depressing because your in a good mood

Some people just can see the happy side of life and are always down on themselves and there is nothing you can do for it. If they are a good friend then accept them for who they are. If he is a so so friend tell him he's a downer and needs to get a life. It is your choice to go to him. Who knows, maybe someday you will rub off on him and brighten his day. Try and do something nice for him without any reason and see if it helps.

Ok how do I say this with out not sounding mean which I am not trying to do. There isn't much you can do to change his mind set. Maybe highlight a thing or two when speaking to him. Life can be a wonderful thing or a horrible thing it just depends on how you look at it. You can choose to dewell on the negative things or you can choose to find the bright side of something. Sometimes the little things in life can make the day worth it. Like lets say you trip, fall and brake your foot (lord willing this would not happen to you) three days before you graduate from highschool. You can look at it one of two ways, one being oh man this is horrible I am so pissed off how can this happen to me now everytime I look back at highschool everyone is going to laugh at me oh I wish I wasnt me I hate my life. Or you could look at it this way LOL I broke my foot before graduation and I had to go on with it on crutches how many people can look back and say that happened to them.
You see where I am going with this? Your friend is the one who dewells on the negative side of things and doesnt be thankful for little things like hell having a friend like you who cares about them. I also dont think it is fair that your friend is making you feel bad for something good that has happened to you what he should do is be happy with you instead of making everything about him. My life is horrible so everyone else should feel how I feel. Have you ever told him that you very much care about him and only want the best for him but maybe try to get him to find things to make life worth living for? Help him maybe get involved in a school function to take his mind off of things give him something to look foward to that he loves doing? LIke I was saying before there isnt to much you can do to make him change his mind set that is all done by him.
