Momentum without the M? Or the body part?

Omentum: A sheet of fat that is covered by peritoneum. The greater omentum is attached to the bottom edge of the stomach, and hangs down in front of the intestines. Its other edge is attached to the transverse colon. The lesser omentum is attached to the top edge of the stomach, and extends to the undersurface of the liver.

Translation: fat that surrounds your intestines with a smaller version higher on the body near your liver. Don't confuse it with belly flab: its underneath the belly flab and the inner lining of the abdomen (peritoneum).

Why is this question in alternative medicine?

You must've heard this from Dr. Oz on Oprah. First time I've heard of it. It's considered an organ of the body and is attached at the outside and bottom of the stomach. Apparently, it is a depository for a lot of the substances in our diets that aren't good for us. It is responsible for the pot belly appearance because it extends and grows larger in people who eat unhealthfully. You can find more on Oprah's website: oprah.com
