After the baby is born they let you look at it and touch it for a few moments after it's been cleaned up and wrapped in blankets. Then it's usually about two hours before you see the baby in the recovery room. Once you get your baby most hospitals will let you keep it in your room with you and you can hold it as long as you feel up to it. That's how it was for both of my c-section deliveries.

When I had my twins, it was about 6 hours before I saw them at all. I did not even get to snuggle in the OR. But, that was because they were having alot of trouble breathing.
I had my son 2 weeks ago and I was in recovery for 2 hours. They then took me directly to the nursery. My baby had to stay there for a few hours because of his lungs. Apparently c-section babies have more lung trouble because they don't get that squeeze on the way out that clears their lungs of water.
Your recovery time depends on you. Some women are out of recovery earlier than others. My doctor made me wait until I could wiggle my toes. It was about 2 hours. Like I said, they took me directly to the nursery and I was allowed to stay there as long as I wanted. I was also able to feed him.

You have to understand that after the c-section, you are still under the anesthesia and the baby is taken to the nursery while you are sewn back up. Then you have to go to recovery which is approximately an hour. So yes it is usually a couple of hours before you get to hold the baby

I am not sure. I had two C Sections but I got wheeled back in to my room to recover so I had the baby the whole time. The rooms at my hospital are Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Post Partum. You dont get moved around.

It is amazing how nature has its way of making people forget things...i have forgotten that my hands were tied down until i read what others had mentioned it. Well for me, i saw my daughter at the O.R. and didnt see her again until after afew hours, but my husband was with her the whole time.

It depends on the policy of the hospital.
I was kinda out of out so I don't know how much time passed. I got to see my daughter for a short time in the operating room. I couldn't hold her because my arms were tied down.
I insisted that my boyfriend stay with her. They sewed me up, and took me back to my room. She roommed with me, and my boyfriend kept an eye on her when I didn't have the ability to hold her for as long as I wanted, or really focus on her because I was so drowsy. I kept trying to stay awake and feed her. It took a while to feel a little more normal.

It really depends what type of pain killer you got and your OB and hospital's c-section regulations. For my c-section i only had an epidural; or rather, what i call a "super" epidural because it numbed me from the chest down. In the OR i only got to touch my baby's face with one hand while my husband held our son as i was being stitched back up. It was only about 30-45 minutes later when they were done and i got to go back to the recovery room where they immediately gave him to me to breastfeed.

most women only get to see their baby briefly while in the OR after a c-section, and they get to touch the baby with one hand (the other is still tied down). after that, they usually take the baby away to do all the tests and bathing and such, while the mom gets stitched back up. For me, that all took about 45 mins before I could see my baby back in the room. of course, different hospitals have different policies. talk to your OB to find out about yours!

You can't hold you baby until your back in your room, about 2 hours, they bring your baby too you for you to touch and see after you deliver him/her.Then you go to the recovery room for about an hour, go back to your room and get a "bath" then they will hook you up to your IV morphine and bring in your baby for you too hold. You don't have to give your baby back unless they need to do somethng for him/her or you start to feel tired and want to sleep.

I had a C-section 12/2005 and my sis-in-law had the opportunity to hold my daughter right after they cleared her lungs and wiped her off. It was only a few minutes after she was born. I didn't want to hold her due to difficult labor. I was sewed up and back in my room w/in the hour. My daughter was w/me the entire time. Maybe I was lucky. I would suggest asking your OB/GYN about their normal procedure.
