PalmOne! It is the most common brand, has a wide variety of accesories, as well as huge selection of applications. There are those who decry Palm, and that's fine- name any mass-marketed product (automoblies, TV's, cellphones, etc) and there is always a group of people who will NOT BUY a certain brand because of (insert horror story here).
Anyway, I have a Tungsten E2, which is my first PDA, and I have not parted with it since. The screen is bright, and the operation is easy and highly customizable. Don't let anybody scare you about GRAFFITI, (the system used by palm to write directly on the screen) I just use the onscreen keyboard just fine.
It comes with two very useful applications:
1. Palm desktop- When you use the provided cable to hook it up to you PC, it automaticly backs up all of your data form the PDA to your computer, as well as uploads new information to the handheld, such as pictures, video, games, software, etc., and Documents-To-Go.
2. Documents-to-Go turns any Microsoft office file into a useable format for the Palm. Word, Excel, Powerpoint (etc) all can be used and modified and your handheld! All you do is click and drag, and it will upload the next time you hook your Palm up to your computer.
Like I said, there are some out there who HATE PalmOne products, but Palm has been making handhelds for at least 15 years, much longer than other brands. Do your own research, and you'll see- Goodluck!
P.s.- make sure to buy some kind of case for it, as soon as you can and that goes for any PDA.

Well, here's how it breaks down as I see it. The PSP is generaly seen as not having a lot of games, which isn't entirely true, there are several games for it, but they tend to be versions of PS2 games similar to ones you may already have crammed up in a tiny screen. Yes the PSP screen is pretty big for a portable, but GTA still feels cramped to me. But otherwise, they are very flexable for things like browsing the web, saving pictures, music and watching movies, so if that's a selling point. I've surfed the web and watched movies on one and I was impressed but still uncomfortable.
The DS is a gaming machine and nothing else. With a vast library of GameBoy Advance titles already in existance and Nintendo's near monopoly on developers for portables, there are more DS games all the time and that's not going to stop. Plus, when the time comes for the next portable Nintendo system, you can bet it'll be backwards compatable. DS and Advance games are much more designed with the concept of 'portable' in mind and feel like they have more 'leg room' to me. The touch screen is pretty cool, and I find more functional than the PSP's Wi Fi internet.
So, if you're looking for mad games and care about little else, the DS is probably the way to go.
If you'd like more flexability and don't mind playing PS2 games on a two and a half inch screen, then you need a PSP.
