Long ago, there flourished an extraordinary civilization in Africa. It was very advanced. We did not know about it until a few years ago. 150,000 manuscripts from that civilization were hidden by people all these centuries. Recently, these manuscripts have been found and scholars are trying to preserve and save them. This historical library is considered to be one of the most important finds in modern history. Lets try some good or average news instead of something bad or troublesome. I would talk about the world's largest airliner from Europe now undertaking its first test flight around the world. It is the new Airbus 880 which can hold up to 800 passengers and has 5 decks on board for sleeping, shopping, entertaining etc., something similar to a cruise ship.

You have access to the Internet and you cant find anything current to write about? How about Britney and Paris hanging out together! Just Kidding!! You could do a report on global warming and how its going to affect the weather this winter. Or how about El Nino. Or how about how different people celebrate Christmas. Good luck!!

Ask your parent or some other adult this: Among all the famous people in the world who died very, very recently, which one's death makes them the most sad? Then, write about the current event [the person's dying], ask your parent why it makes them so sad, and include their answer in your story.
