go to his soccer games and cheer him on. after the game, u can go over to him and tell him how well he did during the first half or at a certain time. Flatter him, make jokes with him, and get interested in stuff that he is too so that u guys can talk a ton. Hope this helps :)

Ask him a question like 'so how long have been playing soccer?' and then keep asking him questions or bump in to him by accident and say 'oh im sorry, hey your in soccer right?'
