Since October I've been trying to buy a certain movie for a friend for Christmas. The movie is not being sold in stores because for some idiotic reason they are no longer printing it. I have been reduced to going on ebay where the current bid is at 41.75$.
What is the most would you pay for:
a) a movie that just got released within the last year
b)a movie that is 1-25 years old
c)a movie like Nightmare Before Christmas which isn't being printed?

I know that is a high price to pay for a movie. I normally wouldn't ever consider paying the price except this is a very close male friend that only asked for this one thing.

I collect dvds and here's my target:
a) 7 dollars, I wait for Blockbuster to have a sale and I buy used
b) 7 - 10 dollars used
c) For rare ones, around $20 maybe, but I try for under. Highest I paid was $28 for Flesh Gordon. I am patient and wait for a deal.
Used is great, it plays fine. I bought KISSology new, because it was a limited edition. If it's on sale new, I'll buy it.
*Quick, jump on this one for $13.

**Eh, feedback questionable.
*** Ebay has some ending in an hour. Good luck.

YIKES! $41.75??!! thats insane..... what movie are you looking for? I might have it & might consider a deal if the price is right! lol :)
Anyhow, I would pay porbably no more than $14 for a new movie- not that much worth more than that & if it is I usually can wait to buy it..... For a oldie but goodie, I would go higher, probably $25.
I paid 16 i think when nightmare first came out on vhs no less! It is now my daughters favorite halloween movie.

$41.75 is very steep for any movie. I would wait and keep checking the prices to see if you can find a lower one.
PS..I've never seen A Nightmare Before Christmas so I really couldn't compare it.

If i have to choose between those three, then i say C.
Because i often want things that seem so bloody hard to get!
Here in Amsterdam, i have to keep waiting for the animated series of the X-men ('90's). And i don't have a credit card, so i can't order it from the internet. So i asked the guy of the special store i go to, if he could order it for me. So he did. But he says it's not probable that he'll receive it. I'll just have to wait for them to launch it in The Netherlands. Orrrr...find another way.
I hope you have more luck than i.

For a movie that's out-of-print, $41 isn't all that huge a price. I've paid that much for a movie before. And if you're a movie geek like I am, it's worth it.

Nightmare before Christmas is currently not being printed and sold because it is being remade in 3-D for IMAX release this winter. In spring it will be available again. Don't act hastily on this gift.

b) see a
c) there's a reason God invented bootlegs

I pretty much don't like to spend more than $20 on anything....movies, clothes, etc, unless of course it's a big item like a computer or a mattress, or whatever.
