i am just shy of 39 weeks pregnant, i was dilated 1cm, 80% effaced, baby in station -1, and i ALREADY lost my mucus plug. i just had my membranes stripped 2 days ago adn now i am seeing this clear mucusy/ jelly-like substance when ever i wipe after going to the bathroom.
i am also having cramping in my back and sometimes it travels to my right abdomen. what does this mean?
is this an onset to contractions??

Call your doctor or a nurses line and tell them what your seeing and how you feel to be sure, but it can't hurt to just go to the hospital if it isn't time they'll just check you out and send you home to wait it out a while longer.

Every labour is different this sounds like the onset of labour your go in to the hospital when your contractions are regularily every five minutes apart even if the occasional one is (fifteen minute intervals ) to get assessed. or if you see bleeding. You are suposed to call the health care nurse and let them know you are coming. she will also advise you. back labour is the ost painful and can occur when the baby's head is coming out the wrong way up. Don't worry I had my first that way everything still goes fine but more painful for mom
YOu will know if this is real or false labour by drinking a glass of wine. if it is false labour pains will go away if it is real they won't go away because of the wine. Oneof the few times that it is actually good to have a glass of wine while pregnant is during labour.
Demand the best from your hospital staff and notify them Imediately if you are going ot start pushing!
Best wishes.

Sounds like it be so! When your contractions are coming 5 minutes apart, you should be getting to the hospital. If this is your first baby, it could be several hours before you get to this point, but then everyone is different. With my first, it was about 7 hours after I lost my mucus plug until delivery.
