Wolf spiders are very common all across North America actually, their range extends from the high north in Canada and Alaska all the way through down to Mexico and onward still. The whole family (Lycosidae) is quite diverse and highly adaptable. Although often misidentified, this spider is actually very common, especially in open fields, and in particular agricultural fields. There are several large representatives of this family in North America, most notable are the many different burrowing wolf spiders which are quite impressive in size, however the ones most commonly encountered are smaller, less secretive critters.

Hope this answers your question!

Wolf spiders are pretty common in most parts of the midwest and southwest. They are harmless, and hang out indoors and outdoors. They move around often, unlike some other spiders that like to stay home in their web all day. They are recognizable by the grey or brown color, size of a dime, and move quick.

Absolutely there are wolf spiders in Oklahoma...I wouldn't call them harmless, as they do bite...I know a few people that have been bitten...it's pretty ugly.
