Generally speaking, an empire would be larger. The British Empire at one time covered about half of the known world. Who is more powerful? A rose by any other name.....China had Emperors. Britain has had Kings. The leader of Lybia calls himself Colonel Qaddafi (I don't know the correct spelling of his name). You can call yourself a Shah, an Emir, a Kaiser, a Dictator, a Ruler, a King, an Emperor, a Leader for Life, a President, a Count, a Man God, a Lord, a Prefect, a Czar, or any other title. Who is more powerful would depend on the empire or kingdom that you are comparing.

the empire is most often larger . if thinking in terms of the British united kingdom and the empire. the kingdom is a section of the island of Britain . the empire is the Commonwealth which is huge
many countries.
a king and emperor could each be just as powerful as one another . the emperor of japan was thought to be a god until the end of world war two. but both the king of England and the emperor of japan had people in large numbers willing to defend them defend the king defend the empire and so on .
the situation regarding power is really just what sort of government each has running in his lands.

I think that a King become King by blood. Emperor becomes emperor by winning a fight whether it is physical or political or financial. But the very first King was most likely chosen by the people over his ability or leadership etc.
Empire must be larger than Kingdom, if not Napoleon wouldn't call himself Emperor - he always aimed bigger than his size!
More powerful? I guess all that depends on the armors, troops and strategy. Personally, I would say Emperor since they have to struggle to get up there and then struggle to survive or at least not end up dead in a bath tub in Rome.

that would be Empire is larger than a Kingdom, and the King and Emperor are acculy the same person, just the title name is different because it's more fancy to call the ruler of an empire an emperor than a king.

An emperor is the most powerful. He rules over all the kingdoms.
In the middle-ages a kingdom could be very small, and the king might be just ruling over a little village or something, like we have a mayor. They changed powers all the time.
There can also be an Emperess. Don't know how that goes, if she can rule with or without an Emeror, but I don't know why not.
I believe Napoleon was an Emperor. He did alot of conquering to get that far. It was his goal to rule the world, I believe.

There's no answer. Kingdoms and empires used to call themselves, there's no size limit for each or anything. And the titles of King and Emperor are also self-given.
But ofetn, empire is bigger than kingdom, and Emperor is better than King.

Same difference, though Empire and Emperor have always had this stigma about them being larger and more important.
