I would think that'd make them worse. The slightest bend in the frozen nylons could break the threads.

Try a different brand. If you notice the runs starting more in the toes get a reinforced toe (don't wear with sandals) or keep your nails well filed and trimmed. If it's in the legs...chances are the nylons are too tight on you to begin with. Try a wider size. The tension being put on the nylons while they're on your legs is more likely to run if they're quite snug on you.

Wash them by hand gently, even in the gentle cycle in a machine and in a laundry bag you can still get snags in nylons. So do them by hand with some dove soap, all on cold water. Squeeze, don't wring, dry and lay them on a towel to dry.

Washing them in hosiery wash or Woolite when they are new, and then shake them damp, and put them in the freezer will extend the durability of nylon hosiery, especially stockings which are much more delicate than pantyhose.

The best thing to do is to wash them using a product called Hosiery Mate. This product really works in helping to keep hosiery to last longer - I don't work for them. You can find this product at department stores and online.

Not sure - cant say that would be a very convenient solution. I would suggest to hand wash them only and leave them to drip dry - works for me. Make sure you purchase good quality stockings that will ensure they last longer as well.
