The same reasons that any fundmentalist group does. I believe in a higher power and I believe that Jesus is a great prophet who was probably given great powers to help us realize our full potential. If you look at many other religions, before and after the Christ, there are other prophets who have cme and gone and have suffered just as he did. We haven't always had media technology as we have today and it is difficult to prove many things. One has to study, research and judge for himself. Those how threat are ignorant. Those who don't believe in anything are just as ignorant. Education is the great emancipator. Notice how many truly educated people believe in a greater being, but listen to the views of other instead of forcing themselves on them by saying you must , you must. The only things educators say you must is become educated so you can think for yourself and not allow others to think for you.

It's all hear and say con game.

It is a creation of human mind to pressurise weak minds.

What is the evidence apart from belife or faith in this ?

And who cares if all the christians say that those who don't believe will go to hell ?

Do they have a government in place there too that can send me to hell ?

Nonsense..

It is utter nonsense, diplomacy and pressure technique.

At best a con game of manipulations.

If Jesus comes back to earth by any chance I am sure these christians will be the first to plot to kill him.
Yeah, i am certain.

But why dear do you want to argue with billions of fools and brainwashed herds of sheeps. Who only keep moving in the direction where the leader sheep moves. Why should you and me argue with people with "closed minds" ?

I am not so benevolent.
I will rather keep my mouth shut and remain happy instead of raising a hell without any cause or benefit.

You can teach a slow learner or a not so intelligent person.

You can't teach a fanatic or an intelligent person who is not open to reasonable logic.

Okay ?

Perhaps the people who are threating are not Christians at all, and perhaps me saying this will be neglected by you according to your will inasmuch as whether you want a reason to threaten Christians as much as they threaten you. Then again, the person claiming to be a Christian may be young and intent on the lessons he has been taugh and may come across some-what zealous towards presenting the concepts presented in the Bible. Hell is an actuality, and for the C hrisitan this a place non-believers will inhabit if they do not believe. Typically people threaten others to control them, but Christianity has nothing to do with others controlling people, and as far as I am concerned this person is just coming across strongly out of a imbalance notion of how to utilize compassion, not a threat. For instance, if the person wanted you to suffer then why would he tell you about Hell if it is an eternity of suffering. Conisder rethinking your position on this, and conisder also telling this person that you appreciate his compassion but to ease up on his way of going about presenting the Bible to you. I promise you it is out of the best intentions even though it can be annoying and irritating, but that's usually the case with the conviction of truth.

Goodbye.

The long answer already given to this question with a long list of scriptures was a serious misunderstanding of "hell". The phrase in Hebrew and Greek simply means "the grave", not an everburning torment of souls. Read Numbers 18:4 " the soul that sins it shall die". It says die, not live forever in an everburning fire. A soul is not immortal or it could not die. The book promises that the incorrigible who will not repent will be extinquished in the lake of fire, but not be tormented forever.

As for the "Christians" approaching you in this manner, they are not Christians, just people brainwashed into forcing their ideas down your throat!

Hi, I'm a Christian, and this is what I have to say...
Christians should not use "you're going to hell if you do not believe" as a threat. Of course, I recognise that some may say it that way, and sometimes even if that's not the way intended, it comes across that way.

The problem is that by inheritance from Adam, humankind has the nature of sin (e.g. you do not need to teach a child to lie... a baby growing up will one day just know how to lie without being taught). In the beginning, before sin came into man, all Adam and Eve had to do was partake of the fruit of life (signifying God's life). After sin came in to corrupt man, there was an additional problem. God is sinless, and cannot tolerate sin. Yet He did not choose to abandon man and create man again. He chose rather, to come in the form of man and shed his blood for us (to redeem us from our sin and sins). Note: sin refers to the inward nature, sins refers to the outward manifestions. Only when we do believe He has died for us and we open to receive Him, can we be saved from going to hell. Hell was destined for Satan, not for man. But man has been dragged by Satan to follow in his footsteps. Satan knows he is going to hell, but he is pulling as many people as he can to go with him. All man has to do is to believe and accept God into their lives. It is not meant to be a threat. I hope this helps.

Using threats and punishments to cause improvement in the behavior of any animal has been thoroughly discredited by behaviorists as inefficient and ineffective.

Unfortunately, it is not just Xtians who are unaware of the scientific study of human behavior and it is not just xtians who believe in a 'punishment' after death .
Most of the world believes that hate and violence solve behavior problems and/or create the desired change in the relationship between the violent and their victims.

Some Christians are in name only and others don't understand how to communicate properly. This presents the problem. There are ways of expressing thought without hitting one over the head with a frying pan.

The" I dont believe in hell" does NOT work ,Because if you died and there is really a hell, then you would have a really HUGE problem, Besides, the Truth never hurt anyone.

Most people are not knowledgeable enough in the bible to provide a different approach or argument to support what they believe.
