I'm pretty sure it's called the Coriolis Effect. You can look it up.

Mateo is correct, its called the Coriolis effect, and it is caused by the rotation of earth, and the friction of the boundary layer of the atmosphere against the face of the earth, It causes weather patterns, cyclones, and hurricanes/typhoons to rotate counter-clockwise in the northern hemisphere, and clockwise in the southern hemisphere.
