At the bottom of your P.C. screen you'll see little character pictures/animations...they are "icons"...symbols for the programs you have on your computer. You can click on the icon and open that program from there without going to your programs list...hope this explains it for you... ;)

It is symbols, more or less. Each one means something it pertains to.

Look at the icons in your yahoo toolbar. They are probably arranged different than mine, but here's the way they are:

A pencil, which when you click on, you will get a drop down box to change the icons, add icons, etc.

The second one is a little box, blue top and yellow bottom with a little triangle shape in it. If I click on this icon, it will show options to set for popup blocking.

Next is a yellow round thing with a black circle and lines here and there. That one is for AntiSpy. The yahoo Answers icon is a green box with a star in it. And so on.

If you rest your mouse over one of them for a second, a description of it will show up. Hope this helps.

An icon is a short cut object used to identify the program. For example your MY COMPUTER shortcut on your desktop has an icon(which is the little computer image you see) and the words "MY COMPUTER beneath it.
