I've noticed how nice they are. I think that in Latin countries, black people are viewed differently. They are not hung up on their race. "Mi *****/a" (my black one) is used as a term of endearment towards a black person. Also, the exotic beauty of black women is celebrated. I feel more at home with them. I'm sick of, constantly, hearing about racism (from a certain group.) I know that racism is a reality, and everyone is subjected to it at some time, but, always, arguing about it has me tired. What do you all think?

I have a lot of dark skinned Latino friends from Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic,Cuba and Columbia and I think I know what you're alluding to but prejudice does exist in those countries but more related, perhaps, to social standing rather than race per se. Racism also exists in those countries. I do agree with you that talking about racisim a lot, especially griping and whining, can be a drag and tiresome, but we can never stop thinking about and discussing how to end it and other kinds of hate in the world.

This is true. But you have to understand that in most Latin countries with the exception of Mexico and El Salvador blacks are not treated any different than everyone else. They also did not have segregation/Jim Crow a mere 40 years ago when blacks were treated cruelly because of their appearance. This is because in Latin countries it is very common to have all shades of people within the same family. They consider all people of their countries to be the same race regardless of skin color. The sad part is that when many Latin people from countries such as Puerto Rico, Cuba, Honduras etc. come to the US it is a culture shock to see how dark skin is regarded here and many of them begin to have the same issues that Black Americans have with skin color (self hatred, defensiveness, and anger.) Also with American culture become prevalent in many countries people are starting to adopt American issues with color. And yes you are right Mi negrito/ Mi negrita or Morenito/ Morenita is a term of endearment for dark skin Latinos but they tend to see the beauty in each other rather than having hatred. We as Americans should take an example from the so called "third world."

Edit- Yes Brazil does have racism also. Not surprisingly the countries all over the world that have a lot of racism also have had the most European influence. Go figure.
Wikipedia on racism in Brazil:These white supremacist values seem to be an obvious legacy of European colonization and the slave-based plantation system (Some people argues that in Brazil the racial prejudice is linked to social prejudice).
