I am 30 weeks pregnant and this is my second child so I feel a little silly asking this, but here goes. What exactly do Braxton Hicks contractions feel like? Sometimes my stomach tenses up (it doesn't hurt) it just gets really hard. Then sometimes I have cramps--like period cramps. Could this be braxton hicks? If not what could it be, just another perk of pregnancy?

Which one is BH? The cramps or the tightening of my stomach? Or both? Is there more than one kind of BH?

Sounds like braxton hicks to me. They don't hurt like the real ones, but can, and your stomach definitely tightens. But i'd ask my doctor. But it sounds like them to me.

Funny you hask that because I am on my second and these braxton hicks feel A LOT different than with my first. It was obvious with my first. My lower belly completly hardened and tightened right up. Now....they are all over the place and are more hard than anything else. I don't feel the tightening..just the sudden hardness.

If you start feeling pain and it is accompanied by bleeding.......OR if you have like more than 4 an hour, totally call your OB no matter what time it is. I've been told that it can be pre-term labor and you may not even know it. (happened to me the night before Thanksgiving).

Having cramps and general aches and pains can be just the round ligament stuff...growing pains...but if the crampiness is unusual or really bad......again...CALL YOUR OB!

You should be ok.....I've been having braxton hicks since I was 15 wks(once every couple of days)! I am now 7 mo, and they come about two to three times a day and then I am fine. It's uncomfortable, but I am even at work when they sometimes hit and I can still perform my duties as I feel I should. But you should be ok. You're getting close. And no one can tell you EXACTLY how far you are, they can only guess. Chances are, you may be the one who is right.

Sounds like classic Braxton-Hicks to me. I also had the lower abdominal cramping. Ah, the joys of pregnancy.

Sounds exactly like your having them. Im pregnant with my 4th and started getting them around 18 weeks. Ive not gotten period like cramps with them, or any of my pregnancies though. My doctor said that 4 to 5 a day spaced out is normal.

Sounds like BH to me. The most important thing is that they are irregular, not like labor cramps. If they get regular, call your doctor right away because if you're going into premature labor at 30 weeks it needs to be stopped.
