How accurate is an ultrasound at 17 weeks? I had one today but they said it might be a girl but they are going to check again in 4 weeks. The baby did not want to turn over hehe.

They can be accurate at 17 weeks but if the baby was in an awkward position then it might not be.

Ultrasounds are pretty accurate. The tech was able to tell me we were having a boy at 13 weeks but I did have another at 20 weeks and that confirmed it. You're probably better off waiting until the next ultrasound before you decorate your nursery.

at 17 weeks they told me i was having a girl too... but i had two more ultrasounds after that and it confirmed it.. they call it the three line sign... basicly.. there aren't any boy parts forming.. which that usually stops at about 24 weeks... so i would just wait it out and see at your next ultrasound when the baby will possibly more cooporative.. until then.. i suggest unisex clothing and bedding just in case.. i'm still getting those clothes. even though my amnio said i was having a girl... ya never know lol.. good luck and best wishes to you!!!

Most techs that do u/s for OB patients know what they are doing and what they are looking at, but because the baby is not right there in front of them, you generally won't find a tech that will tell you 100% the gender.

Generally..if there is a mistake in determining gender, it is telling someone it is a girl and it turns out a boy for obvious reasons...lol When you say it's a boy..it is hard to mess that one up!! :)

I get mine at 20 weeks but I had a friend girl who had one at 5 months and 7 months to determine the sex the first time they told her a girl and they were right because the 2nd time it came back the same.

They are very accurate but if baby has back to you then no way can you tell. Go with what the doctor tells you, if you don't understand things you must ask questions.

It's not 100%, not even up until birth. Unless your little tyke has his/her legs spread facing the 'camera' and they have a clear shot. Even then there has been cases of getting it wrong. Ie, a hand in the wrong place shows a little pee-pee or a pee-pee all shrivelled up could look like a girly bit.

I wouldn't deck the nursery out in pink just yet

Congrats and good luck

Ultrasounds are pretty acurate, however, there is chance that the male testes could descend at the last minute and she could become a he!

I was supposed to be a girl, but then the above happened.

I guess they are pretty accurate, my daughter was pretty funny, when they did my ultrasound she hid herself so we couldn't tell what she was, we didn't find out until 2 days before I had her.
