You really don't want to have a nice day do you. KNowing this infomation will only bring you to your knees.

Myself and co-worker searched for this type of information and we were very surprised at how much american tax dollars went to other countries for relief and econmics aid.

I'm trying to remember some of the yahoo search titles we used.
US foriegn aid contributions
US fiscal budget 2005
tax dollars used for foriegn aid

I hope these help, but don't say I didn't warn you.

America is great, but our government gives away a butt load of money (your money)

The dept of Health and Human Services http://www.dhhs.gov/ accounts for most of the federal welfare budget has 20% of federal spending at 700 billion dollars. The bulk of the money is spent on medicaid which pays for medical bills of the poor and those who are made poor by sickness and are not insured. It covers about 25% of the population. This money has state matching funds and accounts for a big piece of state budgets also.
Only about 1% is spent directly on foreign aid, but the military pays for disaster relief.

Well, good luck on current numbers.

But in the book the tragety of American compassion. It was noted that the amount spent on proverty was enough that it was just handed out to the poor their wouldn't be any poor in the U.S.

The reason is that most of the money spent on poverty in the U.S. is spent on the salaries of bureaucrats and DHS employees.

The amount spent on other countries as I recall is not significant compared to what is spent here.

The bulk of the U.S. budget is spent on some sort of entitlement program.
