I would think that a person could be addicted to counseling. I don't know how it would be treated, but sure the counselor would know once they realized what they were dealing with.

Counseling is nothing more than an interaction with another person who went through a few years of college with Counseling as their focus. They don't solve problems they are just there asking you questions for an hour or so and you feel better discussing the problem but if you realize it the counselor really does not have a solution to your problem. So to treat them find them someone who is a good listener who asks a lot of questions.

addicted to counseling? it seems like that person may be a hypocondriact or they just like the personal attention they get from someone who wants to know everything about you and doesn't ask that you be interested in them. is there a history of neglect in this person? my advice is talk to the present counselor about it.

Yes--it can happen and if the counselor isn't just after the money--they will help this person to the best of their ability.
