Prisoner of Azkaban.... it had a great director ( Alfonso Cuaron)... no wonder JK Rowling wanted him to direct the rest of the movies....

While there's loads missing from the book and that's annoying I think Prisoner Of Azkaban is the best. The cinematography is fab and to me it just stands out as more 'real' than the others.
The first two are watered down kiddie trash and the forth just cut all the depth and thrills of the book (and I mean scary thrills) and replaced it with daft action and an overlong dragon chase and crappy looking mermaids, not to mention Charles Dance would have been teh scariest Voldemort and instead they got Ralph Fiennes who, although terrifying in Shcindler's List, was absolute tosh in GOF (not scary at all).
Maybe Order Of The Phoenix will be the best though?

i think if you compare the movies with the book....it would not be fair ....books are much better.......so much is their.
other wise as a movie...maze waaaasss..actually sad...it was looking that it has not got proper attention...all that riddle part and the risks involved...it wa too haizy....n hedgy ....did you notice in the last movie...as the movie proceeds the qua;ity of work is sort of deteriorating. the voldemort scene was good but it could have been much better.
as a whole...azkaban has better effects...but i thought it became tooo dark...not a lot of interest was created....chamber was an easy movie...nothing great....
i also liked the way they intruduced all the schools ...the way the ship comes etc in goblet.
also i dont like the dombledore in the movies.....i loved the one in the first movies....this one looks aggressive and doesnt have that attitute....he is saddddd...i think he should be the first thing which shud be changed.
the first movie was also good in terms of lighting etc.....
but i surely agree the maze sucked....it was nothing compared to my imagination....i liked the egg......
i wish the movies could have been a bit longer.....they could cover more....but we must say that the riddle thing was increadible and the voldemost rebirth etc.

I must agree with most of another votes, because I think the best one is really the Prisorner of Azkaban.
It`s because Alfonso Cuaron can make so great athmosphere in all his movies and he can get the best achievements from all his actors and actresses. And I believe that this time he had to work hard, because achievements of even so " leather" Daniel and embarrassing acting of Emma Watson was really fine.
The fourth volume was a step back and according to the new trailer of fifth it might be even Order of Phoenix.

I think the best Harry Potter film so far was The Prisnor of Azerbaijan. It was pretty creepy how Serious Black kept screaming in pictures.

They are all good.
I found the first one the best. I never read the books so it was the first time I had seen anything to do with Harry potter. It was new, it was different, the characters were new, the whole idea was new.
I watched the others because I found the story line and the actual film to be good.

Hmmm thats a hard one...as far as how they go "by the book" is very hard as well Azkaban was slaughtered things were out of sequence the film was too BLAH but is one of my favorite books, I believe it's gotta be Goblet but I have to say it too was missing key elements of the book as I believe all of them were except Sorcerers Stone but I am highly awaiting Order of the Phoenix as it was as extrodinary book, Very dark and much is revieled

If you don't take the books into consideration, Prizoner of Azkaban. Sorcer's Stone followed the book closest out of the 4.
